In early April 2023, the award ceremony for the "Micro settlement Light Construction Nanjing Environment Community Unit Building Design Competition" jointly hosted by the Nanjing Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau and the Jiangning District People's Government of Nanjing was held.
The design work "Linear Settlement" by Chen Yuyuan, a student from the Environmental Design Department of our college's Parameterization Laboratory in 2020, successfully won the second prize and popularity award, with a total prize of 55000 yuan, and was implemented as the winning plan.
The competition is jointly organized by the Nanjing Planning and Natural Resources Bureau and the Jiangning District People's Government, focusing on the aspirations of people for a better outdoor life in the post epidemic era. Based in Jiulong Lake Park, the competition collects proposals from 11 countries around the world and receives effective submissions. After professional evaluation by an academic guidance committee composed of seven well-known scholars at home and abroad, including Professor Peer Olaf Feld, Professor Christian Krez, Professor Yuqing Tsukamoto, Professor Jesus Uraji Agulusa, Professor Ming Ge, Professor Weiren Wang, and Professor Shen Zhuang, 10 first, second, and third prize winning works and 6 popularity awards were selected. Online voting was also conducted at the same time, attracting more than 260000 participants.
Liu Qinghao, Deputy Director of the Planning and Natural Resources Bureau of Nanjing City, and Jin Yeyou, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone, presented awards to the award-winning contestants.
The concept of Chen Yuyuan's entry is derived from the continuous connection established between people and their surrounding environment, responding to the demand of people for suburban life in the post pandemic era. In response to the emerging camping trend, it reflects on the outdoor leisure lifestyle that is gradually becoming popular in China, and uses the strategy of landscape urbanism and the concept of "environment community unit" to re understand and design contemporary urban space and urban life.

The 3rd China "Craftsman Cup" Logo Competition
On April 6, 2023, the 4th China Logo Culture Festival was successfully opened in Longgang District, Shenzhen. The design work "Pillar of Science and Technology - University Campus Logo Navigation Design System" by our parametric laboratory teachers and students won the National Bronze Award in the 3rd China "Craftsman Cup" Logo Competition, and Professor Guo Qiang was awarded the "Excellent Guidance Teacher" in the competition.
The China "Craftsman Cup" Logo Design Competition, which started in 2016 and was formerly known as the China "Craftsman Cup" Logo Design Competition, has been successfully held for three times. It is a highly prestigious event in the logo industry and a famous logo competition jointly hosted by various provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions. It has industry authority and international influence.
The theme of the 3rd China "Craftsman Cup" Logo Competition of Dazhong Vitality Laser is "Craftsmanship Power, Shared Growth", with the aim of promoting the spirit of "craftsmanship" and showcasing high-quality logos, thereby improving the level of logo creative design, logo production and manufacturing, logo engineering construction, building a platform for communication and collaboration, promoting the transformation of creative achievements, facilitating communication and interaction among enterprises in the industry, gathering resources, and enhancing the overall level of the industry.
The student's award-winning work, the identification system, extends the concept of "technology axis", abstracting the technology axis from the horizontal dimension to the vertical dimension, forming a "technology pillar". The technology pillar has a simple appearance and follows the traditional architectural style of the campus. Starting from exploring the structure, it forms a non concrete geometric block shape. The pillar is cut into five parts according to the golden ratio, and each part is twisted at a certain angle, symbolizing our school's multidisciplinary scientific research and international educational purpose. The color tone of the column body is elegant, adopting the texture of the building curtain wall, and the font color adopts the vibrant and steady "Deep Technology Blue", which is consistent with the campus landscape design style.
In 2022, during the initial stage of the parametric design laboratory, students actively learned professional knowledge, participated in various competitions, and won various awards. Here are some award-winning works:
2022 "College Cup" China Interior and Environmental Design Competition
In the 2022 "College Cup" China Interior and Environmental Design Competition, laboratory members Zhao Xin'er and Xu Jiahui won the Comprehensive Excellence Award.
The 2022 "Academy Cup" China Interior and Environmental Design Competition, with the theme of "Space and Narrative", is an important competition for interior and environmental design majors in China. The "College Cup" competition aims to promote the cultivation of interior design and related professional talents in Chinese higher education institutions, improve the teaching level of various majors, and strengthen academic and teaching exchanges and cooperation among various professional colleges. The parametric design laboratory has conducted this competition to deeply explore excellent teaching achievements and course experience, and optimize teaching development.
The work "INIT" represents a new thinking of the students in the group on the architectural form of "columns". The work arranges multiple random points in the plane to generate a Thiessen polygon, adjusts the position of the control points to form a sparse distribution in the middle and a denser distribution in the four corners, generating a shape with a larger middle and smaller surroundings. It imitates the overall shape of lotus leaves and uses the "lotus leaf shape" as the basic form unit. Using the texture of Thiessen polygons, the overall shape of lotus leaves is randomly segmented to generate multiple lotus leaves. Each unit shrinks in the middle when it extends upward for the first time, and stretches outward when it extends for the second time, bringing a tension filled "stretching" feeling with the form of smaller lower part and larger upper part. Finally, these stacked "The" lotus leaf "unit undergoes ups and downs, forming a layered sense of staggered heights.

2022 China Brand Design Competition
In the 2022 China Brand Design Competition, laboratory members Zhao Xin'er and Ma Qinyi won the first prize in the rural revitalization track, Chen Yuyuan and Chen Siyu won the second prize, and Zhang Guirong and Xu Jiahui won the third prize.
The theme of this competition is "Rural Revitalization". Members of our parametric design laboratory have utilized their spare time to diversify their designs for the competition content and actively submitted their papers. Under the guidance of two mentors, Huo Yuda and Guo Qiang, several laboratory members ultimately achieved excellent results.
The work proposes a viewpoint on the reality of homesickness, which refers to the fact that people nowadays cannot see the bits and pieces of their original hometown, and the symbols of hometown are gradually disappearing. Interacting with hometown around homesickness may become one of the ways for the work to solve homesickness. The Moorish pattern memory pixel wall in the work, combined with people's walking routes and the view inside and outside the building, forms a unique activity landscape. Taking the "Lingnan rural field scene" as the regional emotional clue, it reproduces the ecological environment and labor scene of Xinfengzhai, adding a unique rural memory to contemporary rural art construction. Therefore, the work abstracts and extracts traditional Lingnan architecture in Xinfengzhai, and combines it with Zen to showcase a peaceful and tranquil experience area.
At the same time, laboratory member Zhang Guirong was nominated for the concept group of the 5th China Design Award; Feng Binru won the bronze award at the 4th Hong Kong Contemporary Design Awards.
Laboratory members Chen Yuyuan and Chen Siyu, along with course members Chen Zhuoyin, Huang Jiale, and Luo Sheng, deepened and actively submitted assignments for the parametric design foundation course, winning the bronze award at the London Chinese Art Exchange Exhibition (CAE) and the silver award at the 3rd International Trend Culture Design Competition. Guidance teacher Guo Qiang was awarded as an excellent guidance teacher in the above two competitions.
Teacher Guo Qiang: The parametric design laboratory has grown from nothing to two classes of students. It has gradually developed from being led by teachers to participate in competitions to students spontaneously submitting and actively participating.
