A professor of landscape design at the University of Toronto, co-director of the Centre for Landscape Research (CLR), and a member of the Knowledge Media Design Institute at the University of Toronto.

He has taught in the fields of landscape architecture, urban design, planning, architecture, and knowledge media design. At the CLR, he is responsible for the research and development of urban design decision-making software systems. Through the CLR, he has carried out extensive project cooperation with consulting companies, institutions, cities, and civic groups, including conducting basic research for the National Capital Commission of Ottawa-Gatineau. Among them, the Lakeview project has won the National Urban Design Award of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects and the Design Exchange.
